UBER | Ubers are a cheap taxi into Central London from Heathrow. Tickets for the Heathrow Express can either be purchased in advance, or very easily at the airport upon arrival. I’d opt for this if I was traveling solo (if there’s more than one of you, an Uber will be cheaper in the end) and if you have a small bag. It’s kind of an expensive and physical trek. So by the time you add it all up, and schlepp your bags to/from the train terminal at Heathrow and then through Paddington out to the taxi rank or down through the tube and up again…. However, once you get to Paddington, you still will have to take the tube or a cab to your next location. Amazing right? Tickets are £19 per person, one way. But depending on traffic, journey times can be anywhere between 30 minutes and one hour and prices can be steep.THE HEATHROW EXPRESS | This fast train goes to/from Heathrow into London every 10 minutes and will get you there in about 15 minutes. Journey times are optimistically advertised as 35 minutes, although London’s notorious traffic often means it can take twice that.Ī traditional black cab can take you to and from Heathrow, avoiding public transit altogether.
National Express operates coach services from Victoria coach station, a five-minute walk south from Victoria train station. Word of warning, you can’t get to Terminal 5 via this service - it stops at Terminal 4. This train stops at intermediate stations between Paddington and Heathrow, is somewhere in between the Piccadilly Line and the Heathrow Express in terms of expense and you can pay using Oyster or contactless. Heathrow can feel like a shopping mall with an airport attached - but it's still a great airport.
